ATHENS, Ohio - Junior running back Beau Blankenship was named to the 2012 Phil Steele Midseason All-America Team on Wednesday.
Blankenship, who was selected to the publication's Fourth Team, was one of only two individuals from the Mid-American Conference named to the All-America team.
The Norman, Okla. native currently ranks third in the country in rushing yards per game, averaging 140.5 per contest.
In six games this season, Blankenship has rumbled for 843 yards and six touchdowns. He opened the year with five straight 100-yard plus games, including a career-high 269-yard performance at Massachusetts. In addition, Blankenship has caught nine passes for 107 yards and one touchdown.
Currently, he is just 157 yards shy of becoming the eighth Ohio running back in school history to rush for 1,000 yards-or-more in a single season. He is also on pace to set Ohio's all-time single season rushing record.
Ohio returns to action this weekend as it welcomes Akron to Peden Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
