ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University kicker Matt Weller was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the 11th time in his career on Monday after he helped the Bobcats to a 34-28 win over Akron.
In the win over Akron, Weller (Twinsburg, Ohio) moved into fourth place on the All-Time MAC scoring list as he scored 10 points. The 10 points scored by Weller moved him past former Toledo running back Chester Taylor.
Weller connected on four extra points and hit field goals from 44 and 29 yards out. He also tallied five touchbacks and averaged 64.4 yards per kick on kickoffs.
Ohio will have this week off before returning to action on Oct. 27 at Miami for the Battle of the Bricks. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and can be seen on SportsTime Ohio/ESPN Game Plan/ESPN3.
