ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio football team (4-3, 1-2) visits Akron (1-5, 0-2) on Saturday in the hopes of snapping its two-game losing streak. The kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm this Saturday.
Saturday's game will mark the 28th all-time between schools. The Bobcats own a 14-12-1 record against Akron and are looking for their fourth consecutive win in the series. A win over Akron would also give the Bobcats their first back-to-back wins at Akron since the 1995 and 1997 seasons.
Offensively, the Bobcats rank second in the league in total offensive, averaging 435.1 yards per game. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Tettleton leads the way offensively for the Bobcats. In 2011 he has thrown for 1,651 yards through the air and 15 touchdowns.
Tettleton is also just 349 yards shy of 2,000 passing yards on the year - a feat only six quarterbacks in school history have accomplished.
Defensively, the Bobcats rank second in the league, allowing just 20.4 points per game. Senior linebacker Noah Keller leads the way with a team-best 47 tackles. Last week Keller registered a game-high 15 stops.
Akron is coming off a bye week but their last game two weeks ago they lost a home game to Florida International 27-17. Offensively they rely on Sophomore quarterback Clayton Moore and redshirt running back Jawon Chisholm. Moore has thrown for 994 yards and six touchdowns this season while Chisholm has averaged 96 rushing yards a game, ranking fifth in the MAC.
Saturday afternoon's game will be broadcast live on SportsTime Ohio. The game can also be heard live on the Citizens Bank Ohio IMG Sports Network with "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein, Rob Cornelius and Brian Boesch calling all of the action. Airtime begins at 2:30 p.m. ET.
