CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Scott Mayle (Philippi, W.Va.) has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Bobcats' win at Eastern Michigan. It is the first time in Mayle's career that he has won a weekly award from the conference.

Mayle made his first kickoff return in three weeks count, ripping off a season-long 46-yard return in the first quarter to help set up an Ohio field goal that tied the score at 3-3. The return moved him into sixth place on the Ohio career kickoff return yardage list with 1,231 yards. Mayle is now 14th in the nation among active players in career kickoff return yards.

Mayle also had a 41-yard touchdown run in the game. It was his longest run of the season and his first rushing touchdown since the 2003 season. He also had a 19-yard reception in the Bobcats' win.

The Bobcats have now won 12 MAC weekly awards in 10 weeks. Mayle's honor marks the fifth straight week that a Bobcat has won the division's special teams honor. Ohio has had the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week seven times in 10 weeks this season.

Ohio's victory at Eastern Michigan last week improved the Bobcats to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in MAC play. With losses by Kent State and Bowling Green, the Bobcats need just one more victory to clinch their first-ever MAC East Division championship and their first conference title of any kind since 1968. Ohio's 7 wins are the most since the 2000 squad went 7-4, while the Bobcats' current five-game winning streak is the program's longest since winning six in a row in 1997.
