- Ohio junior kicker Matt Weller
was named Mid-American Conference East Special Teams Player of the Week for the fifth time this season on Monday.
Weller's honor marks the 10th time this season that an Ohio player has received a weekly award from the league office. Ohio has received seven special team weekly honors this season.
The Twinsburg, Ohio native received the weekly honor after he kicked the game-winning field goal from 23 yards out which gave Ohio a thrilling 29-28 victory over Bowling Green and the MAC East title.
The game-winning field goal was his school record fifth on the night. Weller also drilled field goals from 31, 39, 24, 49 23 yards out. His 49-yard field goal was a season-long. Weller has still not missed a field goal from 40 yards or less this season.
Ohio returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 as it welcomes Miami to Peden Stadium for the Battle of the Bricks. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN2.
Tuesday night's game can also be heard live on the Citizens Bank Ohio IMG Sports Network with "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein, Rob Cornelius and Brian Boesch calling all of the action. Airtime begins at 6 p.m. ET.
