CLEVELAND, Ohio-Ohio punter Paul Hershey was named Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week by the league office on Monday. The honor is his third of the season after winning it in back-to-back weeks in September.
Hershey (Freemont, Ohio) averaged 46.7 yards per punt on three kicks last Friday at Kent State in a 28-6 setback. He also booted a 61-yarder in the first quarter to back the Flashes up to their own 25-yard line.
Hershey is currently third in the league in punting with an average of 40.9 yards per kick. He also sports the longest punt in the league this year with a 72-yard boot against Bowling Green.
The Bobcats (8-4 overall, 6-2 MAC) will now await a possible bowl bid when the selections are announced Sunday on ESPN’s two-hour Bowl Selection Special that will begin at 9 p.m. ET.
