Matt Weller

Nov. 30, 2011

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University football team landed a league-high 11 spots on the 2011 Postseason All-League team which was announced today by the Mid-American Conference.

Junior kicker Matt Weller (Twinsburg, Ohio) and senior offensive lineman Joe Flading (Cincinnati, Ohio) highlighted the list of honorees for the Bobcats. Weller was named Special Teams Player of the Year, while Flading received All-MAC First Team honors for the second-consecutive season.

Weller leads the conference in with a school record 22 field goals made, surpassing the mark of 21 which he set in 2009. His long of 49 yards is tied for the longest field goal made by any kicker in the conference this season. Weller converted a career-high five field goals in a 29-28 win at Bowling Green on Nov. 16 to help the Bobcats clinch the MAC East Division.

Flading received All-MAC First Team recognition following a 2011 season where he helped pave the way for nine 200-yard rushing games. He has also started in 37-straight games. Flading’s All-MAC honor is the third of his career.

Senior wide receiver LaVon Brazill (Lantana, Fla.), junior offensive lineman Eric Herman (Oregon, Ohio), senior linebacker Noah Keller (Kearney, Neb.), junior defensive lineman Tremayne Scott (Ocala, Fla.), junior cornerback Travis Carrie (Antioch, Calif.) and Weller were all selected to the All-MAC Second Team.

Keller’s All-MAC honor was the third of his career, while Brazill and Weller were recognized for the second time in their respective careers. Herman, Scott and Carrie were each named All-MAC for the first time.

Brazill has surpassed 100 yards receiving on five separate occasions this fall and leads the team in receptions (58) and receiving yards (914). Herman has started in 36 straight games and has the most pancake (79) and decleater blocks (16).

Keller, who is a three-time captain, leads the team in tackles with 92 stops and ranks in the Top 10 all-time in career tackles with 414. In four of the last six weeks, he has recorded 10 tackles-or-more. Scott has played in all 12 games and is ranked third on the team in tackles with 55. He also has a team-best 3.5 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss on the year. Carrie leads the team with four interceptions and has also played in all 12 games this season. He ranks sixth on the team in tackles.

Sophomore quarterback Tyler Tettleton (Norman, Okla.), senior A.J. Strum (Delmont, Pa.) and senior running back Donte Harden (Erie, Pa.) were each named to the All-MAC Third Team. Both Tettleton and Harden were named to the All-Conference team for the first time, while Strum earned the second All-MAC honor of his career.

Tettleton has set 11 single season school records this fall in his first season as a starter. He has accounted for 34 touchdowns (26 passing; 8 rushing) and he is also one of just seven quarterbacks nationally that have thrown 26-or-more touchdowns and seven interceptions or less. Strum has started in 31 straight games and has totaled 52 pancake blocks. Harden has accounted for 1,599 all-purpose yards.

Friday night's game can also be heard live on the Citizens Bank Ohio IMG Sports Network with "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein, Rob Cornelius and Brian Boesch calling all of the action. Airtime begins at 6 p.m. ET with MAC Championship Live.
