All-America Honors Continue to Roll in for Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio redshirt freshman safety Gerald Moore and junior linebacker Noah Keller joined teammates LaVon Brazill and Matt Weller in All-America recognition on Wednesday.


Moore was named to Sporting News’ Freshman All-America team after posting 62 tackles, the fourth-highest mark on the team, with one tackle for loss, a half sack, six interceptions, a pass breakup, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. The six picks tied for the most nationally among freshmen.


Weller, Ohio’s redshirt freshman kicker, also earned Freshman All-America honors from Phil Steele and CollegeFootballNews.com last week.


Keller was named honorable mention All-America by SI.com this week after posting a MAC-high 138 tackles this season with 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, two pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles.


Brazill, a junior punt returner, was also named fourth team All-America by Phil Steele and honorable mention All-America by SI.com after claiming second team All-America honors from Sporting News earlier this week. The Lantana, Fla. native, who was the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) student-athlete in the nation with three punt returns for touchdowns, averaged 15.04 yards per return, the eighth-highest total nationally. Brazill recorded scores on a 72-yarder at Bowling Green, an 87-yarder against Kent State and a 91-yader against Northern Illinois. For his career, Brazill has a school-record four punt returns for touchdowns.


Ohio (9-4) will face Marshall (6-6) in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 26. The game will be played indoors at Ford Field, the home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions.
