Jeff Hetler just completed his third season as the everyday instructor with the Ohio women's golf program following two years as a graduate assistant with both the women and men.

Hetler, a native of Mansfield, assists Director of Golf Bob Cooley in all aspects of the Ohio golf program, including recruiting, travel and equipment.

He received his start in coaching as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2002 at Ohio and was hired full-time in the summer of 2004.

Under his direct guidance, the Bobcat women's team won two tournaments - the Lady Herd Fall Classic and the Virginia Beach Intercollegiate - during the fall of 2004 and placed second at the 2005 Mid-American Conference Championships.

In 2006, Ana Brown tied for third at the MAC Championship and set a school record with a score of 221 (75-71-75) after three rounds of the 72-hole event. She was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team while Julie Tomlinson broke the school mark for 18 holes with an opening-round 66 at the Wachovia-Great Smokies Intercollegiate earlier in the year. Both seniors finished with season averages ranked among the top five in school history.

Also under Hetler's guidance, Meredith Waterston placed third at the 2005 MAC Championship, the best-ever finish by an Ohio female. Sara Ann Palmer, the individual medalist at the Lady Herd Fall Classic, was named to the Academic All-MAC Team after posting the fifth-best season average in school history at the time.

Hetler's teams have also excelled in the classroom. He has seen two of his golfers earn NGCA All-American Scholar honors, three on the MAC Academic Honor Roll and one named Academic All-MAC.

After earning his bachelor's degree in sport industry from Ohio in 2001, Hetler spent a year as an academic services intern with the athletics department before beginning graduate studies. He earned a master's degree in coaching education from Ohio in 2005.

Hetler was a four-year letterman on the varsity golf team at Madison High School and participated in junior golf as well.

Born on September 3, 1977, he is the son of Ron and Linda Hetler.
