DADE CITY, Fla. - The No. 8 seeded Ohio University men’s golf team held leads in four of six matches heading onto the back nine, but could not close out No. 5 seed Toledo, falling to the Rockets 4.5-1.5 on Monday in round two of the Mid-American Match Play.
Junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) paced the Bobcats by picking up a match victory, 2 up, over Toledo's Jamie Richardson. Mlynarski is 1-1-0 so far in the MAC event.
Senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) split his match with Oliver Holtsberry to pick up the half point for the Bobcats.
Freshman Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) played well for the second-straight round but could not pull out the victory, falling one down to Mike Lancaster.
Freshman Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) and sophomore Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) held front nine leads over their respective opponents but both fell, two down, in their matches.
Senior Phil Gieseker each dropped his match, three down, to wrap up the group.
The Bobcats wrap up the Mid-American Match play Tuesday with a duel against Bowling Green. The two teams split a 1.5-1.5 match on Saturday in Montverde, Fla.
