DADE CITY, Fla. - The eighth-seeded Ohio University men's golf team dropped its final match of the Mid-American Match Play to second-seeded Akron, 4-2, Tuesday at the Lake Jovita South Course in Dade City, Fla.
The Bobcats wrapped up the event with a 0-3 record to claim eighth place at the match play competition. Ohio also fell in day one matches to No. 34 and top seed Ball State (4.5-1.5) and fifth-seeded Miami (6-0).
No. 6 seed Bowling Green posted a 2-0-1 record at the event to win the Mid-American Match Play title.
Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) turned in his best performance of the spring season Tuesday, as the junior was dominant from start to finish in a 6 and 5 victory over Akron's Louis Birchall.
Senior Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) picked up the other victory for the Bobcats with a 4 and 3 win over the Zips' Cameron Simmons.
The Bobcats now head north to Okatie, S.C., to take on BIG EAST foe DePaul on Saturday (Feb. 16) at Chechessee Creek Country Club.
