Wexford Intercollegiate Round 1 Results
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Ohio University men's golf team is tied for ninth place out of 18 teams after Monday's opening round at the eighth-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
Frost delayed the start of round one by an hour, so the 18-team field was unable to complete Monday's scheduled second round. Each squad has five holes left to play to finish round two.
The second round will be completed on Tuesday morning followed by the final 18 holes at the par 72, 6,828-yard Wexford Plantation course.
The Bobcats carded a 16-over par 304 team score in round one and are tied for ninth with DePaul University. Host Francis Marion University holds a one stroke lead (291, +3) after 18 holes, while the University of Richmond (292, +4) sits in second place.
Senior Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) paced the Ohio lineup with a two-over par 74. Firestone is tied for 18th place heading into the final day of play Tuesday.
Junior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) played the course at four-over par (76) to tie for 35th place, while freshman Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) is tied for 39th after firing a five-over par 77.
Freshman Michael Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.) matched Burgess' 77 (+5) and is also is tied for 39th, and senior Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) rounded out the Ohio lineup with an eight-over par 80. Lamping is tied for 68th.
Full tournament results will be posted after round three is completed Tuesday evening.
