PINEHURST, N.C. - The Ohio University men’s golf team placed eighth out of 10 teams at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate held March 8-10 at historic Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
The Bobcats shot a combined 937 (317-314-306, +89) at the event and played their best during a final round 306 performance.
No. 50 UNC-Greensboro won the tournament with a combined score of 893 (+45). Belmont finished second with an 899 (+51).
Ohio was led by a duo of golfers during the three-day event. Freshman Peyton White fired a three-round score of 230 (+18) to finish t-18th and record his fourth top-20 of the season. The Huntersville, N.C. played well in his home state, with three round scores of 77, 75 and 78.
Junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) matched White’s three-round total of 230 with individual rounds of 76, 77 and 77. Mylnarski’s final round included three birdies on his first four holes. The finish marked Mlynarski’s second career top-20.
Senior Phil Gieseker (Saline, Mich.) finished 43rd with a 54-hole total of 242 (86-79-77, +30). Senior Bradley Lucas placed two spots (t-45th) and two strokes (244) behind, with individual round totals of 86, 84 and 74. With his strong final 18 holes, Lucas moved up eight spots in the final standings.
Rounding out the Ohio quintet was sophomore Michael Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.), who finished t-47th with a 33-over par total of 245 (78-83-84).
The Bobcats return to action April 12-13 at the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
