GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Ohio University men’s golf team sits in seventh place out of 14 teams after Monday action at the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate in Glenview, Ill.

The Bobcats shot a combined 28-over par (301-303-604) through 36 holes of action on day one of the tournament at the Glen Club. The Bobcats were in fifth after one round, but dropped to seventh after their second round 303.

Host Northwestern leads the event by six shots after carding a combined nine-under par 567 (277-290). Ohio State is in second at three-under par (288-285-573).

Fresh off a t-20th finish at last weekend’s NYX Hoosier Invitational, junior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) continued his strong play Monday with consecutive rounds of 74 (+4) to sit in a tie for 15th place. Coldwater played the par 5s at two-under par and made 24 pars on the day.

Senior Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) is tied for 21st place after shooting 149 (75-74, +5) over his first two rounds. Firestone made a team-best 27 pars, which was second most among the 78 competitors on the day.

Tied with Firestone in 21st is fellow senior Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio). Lamping also posted rounds of 75 and 74 and made a team-best six birdies over his first 36 holes.

Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) was in a tie for 38th place after firing an opening-round 77, but his second round 81 dropped the sophomore into a tie for 61st. Mlynarski’s two round total of 158 puts him at +14 for the tournament.

Freshman Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) is in a tie for 68th place after rounds of 79 and 81 (160, +16).

Ohio plays its third and final round at the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate Tuesday.
