UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) matched the best finish of his career to lead the Bobcats in final round action at the Rutherford Intercollegiate Sunday at Penn State’s Blue Course.
Coldwater fired a final round 71 to finish the tournament tied for seventh. His three-round total of 222 (79-72-71, +9) was just three shots off his personal best 54-hole score (219), while just two golfers among the field of 75 posted a score better than Coldwater’s on Sunday.
The Bobcats finished 10th out of 14 teams at the event after posting a combined 68-over par 920 (314-301-305) for the tournament. Binghamton won the Rutherford Intercollegiate with a 38-over par 890 (302-301-287).
Senior Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) shot identical scores of 232 (+19) to tie for 40th place.
Lamping shot a final round 71 to go along with scores of 76 and 77 on day one, while Mlynarski opened with a 78 and notched scores of 77 in both the second and final rounds.
Freshman Michael Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished tied for 53rd after posting a 54-hole total of 235 (82-75-78, +22), while fellow freshman Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) registered a 27-over par 240 (81-80-79) to end the tournament in 63rd place.
The Bobcats now take a week off before hosting the annual MAC Championships May 3-5 at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
