WESTERVILLE, Ohio - With three rounds in the books at the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship, the Ohio men's golf squad maintains its fifth place standing heading into Saturday's final round.

The Bobcats were in fifth place after two rounds on Thursday, but were just five strokes behind second place. They were able to maintain their position in the team standings, but the margin widened with Friday's 293 team score. Ohio will enter Saturday's final round with an 871, nine strokes behind fourth place Ball State and 13 ahead of Toledo in sixth.

Ryan Siekmann (Dublin, Ohio) recorded the lowest score among the Ohio quintet with a 71 on Friday. Siekmann played one-under on the front nine and even on the back nine and he is even through 54 holes at 216, which has him tied for 14th.

Mark Phillips (Hilliard, Ohio) is just one stroke behind Siekmann in a tie for 16th after his par 72 on Friday. Thanks to four birdies, he finished two-under on the back nine.

Grant Christman (Columbus, Ohio) and Mark Cimarolli (Pittsburgh, Pa.) are both five-over for the tournament, and tied for 25th, after their scores on Friday. Christman was three-under through 10 holes, but suffered a bogey and two double-bogeys down the stretch and finished with a 74. Cimarolli was even through the front nine, but took four bogeys on the back nine to record a 76.

After a 70 in Thursday's second round, Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) slipped back to a tie for 39th with a team-high 82 on Friday. He was three-over on the front nine and seven-over on the back nine.

Thanks to a 67 on Friday, Eastern Michigan's Graham Hill moved into a tie with Kent State's Peter Ahn for the individual lead with eight-under scores of 208.

Akron will take a five stroke lead over Eastern Michigan into Saturday's final round. The Zips led Ball State by 10 shots heading into Friday, but the Eagles shot a tournament-low 280 in the third round to get within striking distance.
