NASHPORT, Ohio – Senior Bradley Lucas rebounded from a difficult first day of competition to lead the Bobcats on day two at the MAC Championships Saturday at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

After three rounds of play, the Bobcats are a combined 77-over par (941), one shot in front of ninth-place Northern Illinois (942, +78). Ohio played well throughout the day, but could not overcome a final three holes in which the team shot a combined nine-over par.

Kent State leads the tournament after shooting a one-under par 287 in round three. The Golden Flashes are +14 for the championship (291-300-287-878) and hold an 18-shot lead over second-place Toledo (296-305-295-896, +32).

Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) put together one of his steadiest rounds of the season Saturday. The senior made 12 pars on the day and added a birdie to post his best score of the tournament. He sits in 42nd place (84-87-77-248, +32).

Senior Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) remains the low man for Ohio, with a three-round score of 225 (75-72-78, +9). He birdied holes eight and nine to make the turn at one-over par in round three, but two double bogeys in his final three holes dropped him from t-6th to t-10th for the championship.

Senior Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) is tied for 27th after firing a third-round 79 to go along with his first day totals of 77 and 78 (234, +18). After making seven birdies over his first two rounds, Firestone was without a birdie in today’s action but did string together 12 pars on the day.

Junior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) posted a score of 82 and is tied for 38th (85-77-82-244, +28), while sophomore Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) is one stroke behind him in 40th place (86-78-81-245, +29).

Ohio wraps up the 2013 MAC Championships with final round action Sunday beginning at 7:50 a.m.
