Results through round one

The Ohio University men’s golf team carded a first-round total of 306 on Monday to stand in a tie for 11th after the first day of the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at Delaware Country Club. The second round was suspended due to darkness and will resume at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow, with the final 18 holes to immediately follow.

Junior Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats on Monday, firing a one-over 71 to fall just a stroke shy of matching his 18-hole career best. He got off to a quick start in the morning round with birdies on his first two holes, and finished the opening round with four circled numbers on his card to earn a share of seventh place.

Junior Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) used a trio of first-round birdies to position himself in a tie for 34th place after the opener with a five-over 75, while classmate Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) finished Monday’s action in a tie for 53rd with a score of 78 (+8). Senior James Ellis (McMurray, Pa.) rounded out the Bobcats’ scoring quartet with a first-round 82 (+12) on Monday.
