ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Ohio University men’s golf team completed 36 holes of golf against elite competition at the Wolf Run Invitational Saturday and the Bobcats sit in fourth place after posting a team score of 598 (307-291, +30).
The Bobcats were in eighth place after one round of play, but a strong second round combined score of 291 (+7) propelled Ohio to end the day in fourth place.
Illinois, the only team to shoot under par for the day, is leading the field with a combined score of 565 (-5). The University of Kentucky sits in second place with a team score of 588(+20). Auburn is in third place with a score of 591 (+23).
Freshman Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) played outstanding golf for Ohio throughout his 36 holes, carding a one-over par 143. White was tied for 18th after a first-round 75, but moved up 15 spots into a tie for third with his stellar second round of 68 (-3). White leads the field in par-4 scoring (-4) and has made seven birdies thus far.
Junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) is following his strong performance at the Marshall Invitational with two consistent rounds in Zionsville. Mlynarski posted a 151 (75-76, +9) and is tied for sixth in the field with six birdies through 36 holes. He sits t-27th for the championship.
After carding an opening round 80, senior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) improved eight shots with a second round 72 to post a combined 152 (+10). With the solid second round, Coldwater moved up 19 spots and is tied for 29th.
Sophomore Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) and senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) rounded out the lineup for Ohio. Burgess shot a 157 (82-75) and is tied for 48th, while Lucas fired a 159 (77-82) and sits in a tie for 54th.
