LOVELAND, Ohio - The Ohio men's golf team turned in two rounds Monday at the Xavier Invitational and is tied for 17th with 18 holes left to play. The Bobcats shot a 593 as a team on Monday to sit in a tie for 17th with George Washington in the 20-team field. They will enter Tuesday's final round nine strokes behind Cincinnati for 16th. Playing as an individual in his hometown, Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) was the best Ohio golfer during Monday's 36 holes. He shot a two-over 146, but sits in a tie for 45th in a competitive field of 104 individuals. The 146 is the best 36-hole score of his career. Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) is one stroke back of Gusweiler - and atop Ohio's card - in a tie for 51st with a 147. His 70 in the first round tied his previous career-low score. Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) and James Ellis (McMurray, Pa.) will enter Tuesday with five-over scores of 149 which has them in a tie for 69th. Mark Phillips (Hilliard, Ohio) is tied for 77th with a 152 and James McGrath (Connellsville, Pa.) registered a 157 to sit in a tie for 98th with one round left. Marquette has a two stroke lead over St. Mary's in the team standings with a composite score of 561. Eastern Kentucky's Phillip Hendrickson and St. Mary's Joshua Kelley will enter Tuesday in a tie for the individual lead with 10-under scores of 134. Tuesday's final round will begin with tee times starting at 8 a.m. |
