AKRON, Ohio – Ohio Men’s Golf completed the first round of play at the 2012 Firestone Invitational on Monday afternoon. Due to a heavy frost in the area, the tournament got off to a late start and will include only 36 holes instead of the original 54.

The Bobcats currently rank 17th following the first day of action, having recorded a team score of 307. Ball State earned the top spot after the opening round, shooting a 282. USC-Aiken was not far behind, carding a team score of 285.

Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats, shooting a 75 to end the day tied for 43rd place. Lucas shot four birdies and 11 pars in the first round of play. Not far behind him were Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) and Byron Firestone, who each finished the round with 77s. These two student-athletes are currently tied for 64th place.

Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) rounded out Ohio’s participation in the tournament, shooting scores of 78 and 79, respectively. Coldwater is tied for 74th and Burgess is sharing the 79th spot.
