Men's Golf Tied For 16th At Xavier Invitational

LOVELAND, Ohio - Junior Chad Warmbein fired a second-round 66 (-6) on Monday to wrap up the first day of play in a tie for seventh place, and the Ohio University men’s golf team hit the clubhouse in a 16th-place tie after the first two rounds of the Xavier Invitational with a total of 592 (+16). Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) coupled his career-best second-round effort with a one-over 73 in the first round, and will head into Tuesday’s play as part of a six-player group tie for seventh with a 36-hole score of 139 (-5). His six-under 66 in the afternoon round matched the fourth-best in school history, while his day-one total of 139 equaled the program’s eighth-best 36-hole tally. Playing in his hometown, junior Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) shot a two-under 70 in the first round en route to a three-over 177 on Monday, and will head into the final round in a tie for 50th place. Classmate Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) earned a share of 77th on the first day of play with a two-round total of 151 (+7), while sophomore Mark Reinhold (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished competition on Monday with a total of 155 (+11), good for a share of 87th place. Freshman John Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) rounded out the Bobcats’ lineup on Monday with a total of 159 (+15), and will head into the final round in a tie for 97th place. Ohio and the rest of the 20-team field at the Xavier Invitational will begin final-round play at Oasis Country Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
