Men's Golf Finishes 17th At Xavier Invitational

LOVELAND, Ohio - Junior Chad Warmbein shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday in the final round of the Xavier Invitational to finish the event with a five-under total of 211, the third-best in program history. The Bobcats concluded the tournament with a 10-over 298, finishing in 17th place with a total of 890 (+26). Warmbein’s second-straight round at par or better propelled him to a final total of 211 (-5) and a tie for 10th place, his best finish of the Bobcats’ fall campaign. After establishing career bests with a single round of 66 and a 36-hole tally of 139 on Monday, the McMurray, Pa., native finished the tournament as one of just 14 Ohio players to ever shoot 214 or better for a three-round event. The performance also marked the third top-10 finish of Warmbein’s career. Junior Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) wrapped up his fall season with a third-round 76 (+4) on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 57th with a total of 223 (+7). Fellow junior Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) fired a two-over 74 in the final round, his best effort of the tournament, to record a final total of 225 (+9) and tie for 67th, while freshman John Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) also posted his best round of the tournament, a four-over 76, to tie for 96th with a tally of 235 (+19). Sophomore Mark Reinhold (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished in a tie for 101st place with a final score of 242 (+36) after shooting a final-round 87 (+15). The Xavier Invitational marked the Bobcats’ final tournament of the 2008 fall season. Ohio will announce its spring schedule at a later date.
