E.Y. Day One
MUNCIE, Ind. - Weather conditions prevented competitors at the 2012 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational from completing two full rounds of play on Monday. One full round was scored and participants began the second set of 18 holes before play was suspended for darkness.
In lieu of team scores, the 2012 E.Y. Invitational marks the first time that the tournament will strictly be an individual competition.
Nick Huggins of Northern Illinois currently holds the top spot at the competition, having shot a three-under-par score of 67. Joe Cooper (Bowling Green) and Tyler Ostrom (Ball State) are tied for second with one-under-par scores of 69.
Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) had the best Bobcat finish of the day, as he ended the first round tied for ninth place. Firestone shot a 72, merely two strokes over par.
Placing next for Ohio were Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) and Mike Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.). Both of these student-athletes ended the day tied for 25th with scores of 76 (+6).
Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.), Thomas Leech (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Will Stines (Columbus, Ohio) rounded out Ohio's participation on Monday. Mlynarski shot an 81 and is tied for 40th; Leech is tied for 43rd with an 82 and Stines shot a 91 to end the day in 46th.
The second day of competition at the E.Y. Invitational is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Stay tuned to OhioBobcats.com for a full recap of the action on Tuesday evening.
