MUNCIE, Ind. – Ohio Men’s Golf completed its participation at the 2012 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational on Tuesday night. Five Bobcat golfers completed three rounds of play at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.
In a deviation from the tournament’s format in previous seasons, this year’s Yestingsmeier Invitational was strictly an individual competition.
Kyle Perry of Indiana claimed the top spot at the tournament, shooting a three-round score of 208. He was followed closely by Joe Gasser (Ball State), Tyler Wingo (Notre Dame) and Joe Cooper (Bowling Green), all of whom finished with two-over-par scores of 212.
Michael Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.) was Ohio’s top finisher, tying for 26th place with a three-round score of 226. The freshman sandwiched his top round of 71 with scores of 76 and 79 in the first and third rounds. Teammate Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) was not far off his mark, shooting 76-78-74 to end tied for 31st with a score of 228.
Thomas Leech (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.) and Will Stines (Columbus, Ohio) rounded out Ohio’s competition in the tournament. Leech ended 41st with a 238; Mlynarski placed 43rd with a 246 and Stines ended up 44th with a score of 255.
The Bobcats will next be in action on Monday, Oct. 22 at the Dayton Fall Invitational. This event will last two days and will serve as the final competition of the 2012 fall season.
