Bobcats End First Day in Seventh at Dayton Fall Invitational

KETTERING, Ohio – Ohio Men’s Golf completed the first day of competition at the 2012 University of Dayton Fall Invitational on Monday. The Bobcats shot a team score of 302 on the first day and finished the round in seventh place.

IPFW and Western Kentucky share the top spot after the first round of play, having shot team scores of 295. Host Dayton is not far behind, scoring a 296 through the first 18 holes.

Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) led the way for the Bobcats on Monday, shooting a career-best score of 73. The freshman is currently tied for 11th place at the invitational. Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) and Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) were Ohio’s next finishers on the day, each ending tied for 31st with first-round scores of 76.

Byron Firestone finished in the middle of the field and fourth for the Bobcats, dropping three strokes from his front-nine score of 40 to end the day with a 77. He is currently tied for 47th place.

Rounding out Ohio’s participation at the tournament on Monday was Connor Coldwater. The junior shot an 81 to end the day tied for 73rd.
