Day One Results | Day One Stat Leaders
FORT MYERS, FLA. - The Ohio University men’s golf team completed two rounds of play on Sunday at the Cobra-Puma Invitational and sits in twelfth place after day one with a team score of 600 (302-298, +24).
The top three teams after day one consist of schools from the Sunshine State. Florida Golf Coast leads the field with a team score of 568 (-8). Florida Atlantic holds second place with a two-round team score of 583 (+7) while Bethune-Cookman is in third (586, +10).
Edward Figueroa, competing as an individual for Florida Golf Coast, carded the lowest individual two-round score with a 135 (69-66, -9).
Senior Phil Gieseker (Saline, Mich.) played strong golf for Ohio on Sunday and sits in a tie for 14th place having shot a 146 (74-72, +2). Gieseker is tied for fourth amongst the field in par-5 scoring (-5) and posted one of two eagles for the ‘Cats on day one.
Freshman Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.) finished just behind his Gieseker, continuing his steady play with a 147 (75-72, +3). White is fourth amongst the field with nine birdies through 36 holes and is tied for third in par-3 scoring (-1).
The next finisher for the Bobcats was reliable junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.). Mlynarski is in a tie for 29th place after posting a solid two-round score of149 (73-76, +5). The steady performer posted 24 pars over his first 36 holes, good for a tie for fourth amongst all competitors.
The final two competitors for Ohio were freshman Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) and senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio). Herriott scored a 158 (80-78, +14), while his teammate Lucas shot a 159 (81-78, +15).
The Bobcats will play the final round of the 2013 Cobra-Puma Invitational on Monday morning. The morning round is scheduled to tee-off at 9 a.m. OhioBobcats.com will have a final recap from Fort Myers, Fla. tomorrow.
