ORLANDO - The Ohio men's golf squad concluded the fall portion of its 2007-08 schedule with a ninth place finish in the third annual Big East/MAC Challenge.

The Bobcats shot a 911 in the 54-hole event at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando to finish ninth out of 11 participating teams. Ohio finished six strokes behind Rutgers, and ahead of Villanova and Akron.

The tourney was scheduled for two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday, but inclement weather halted play on Saturday during the second round. The remaining holes of the second round, and the final 18, were turned in on Sunday.

For the third time this fall, Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) paced the Bobcat effort. The sophomore shot an eight-over 224 to finish in a tie for 19th in the field of 55 competitors. His best round of the weekend - a 73 - came in Sunday's final round.

Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) finished four strokes behind Jamieson with a 228 to tie for 29th. Gusweiler, also a sophomore, had his best round of the weekend in Saturday's first 18 holes when he shot a 75.

Senior Mark Phillips (Hilliard, Ohio) and sophomore Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) shot a 232s to tie for 39th in the tournament. Phillips' best round of the event was 76 in the second round while Warmbein's low 18 was a 74, also in the second round.

James Ellis (McMurray, Pa.) rounded out Ohio's card with a 235 to finish 47th. The junior's best round was a 76 on Sunday.

Tournament host Marquette captured the team title with a two-over 866. The Golden Eagles' Mike van Sickle also repeated as the event's individual medalist with a 10-under 206.
