DADE CITY, Fla. - The Ohio University men’s golf team returns to action on Monday at the third annual Mid-American Match Play hosted by Ball State.
The Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla., will be the site of the tournament. The par-72, 7,153 yard course will host a field of six Mid-American Conference teams, as well as Xavier and Eastern Kentucky.
The two-day event is set for 54 holes of match play competition. The eight teams in the field are seeded according to GolfStat rankings and placed into a bracket. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three matches.
The eight-team field consists of (1) Eastern Michigan, (2) Ball State, (3) Miami University, (4) Eastern Kentucky, (5) Toledo, (6) Xavier, (7) Bowling Green, and (8) Ohio.
The Bobcats are coming off a split-match decision with Bowling Green over the weekend (1.5-1.5). Senior Phil Gieseker (Saline, Mich.) and freshman Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) paired up to win their match 4&3 over Bowling Green.
Gieseker and Herriott will see action against Eastern Michigan in the opening round of the Mid-American Match Play Monday, along with senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio), junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.), sophomore Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario) and freshman Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.)
First-round play will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. Two rounds will be played Monday, with final round play wrapping up Tuesday morning.
