ATHENS, Ohio -
The eighth-seeded Ohio University men's golf team will face off against top seed Ball State on Monday in the opening round of the Mid-American Match Play in Dade City, Fla.

The double-elimination event features three rounds, with rounds one and two played Monday and round three concluding on Tuesday. Ohio will face off against either No. 4 Eastern Michigan or No. 5 Miami in round two.

The Bobcats take on the Cardinals beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Lake Jovita South Course in Dade City, Fla. The par-72, 7,153 yard course will play host to eight Mid-American Conference teams during the event.

The seeding for the event was determined based on Golfweek rankings. The Cardinals have been ranked as high as No. 27 in the national polls this season. Ball State captured the conference match play title last season.

Ohio opened the spring season Saturday with a match play affair against Bowling Green. Each side claimed three victories in the competition.
