THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The Ohio men’s golf team lost to High Point University 3.5-2.5 in head-to-head match play Thursday at the Colonial Country Club outside of High Point, N.C. The Bobcats were led by junior Jon Johasky and sophomores Mark Cimarolli and Grant Christman.

“It came down to the very last hole and they made a putt and we didn’t,” said Ohio head coach Bob Cooley. “It was a strange golf course and they definitely had a home-course advantage. But we learned a lot and it was good for us.”

According to Cooley, individual scores were not kept since the competition was in match-play format.

The Bobcats also played an exhibition against Seton Hall at the Southern Pines Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C., last Sunday morning. Behind strong performances from Johasky and sophomore Ryan Siekmann, Ohio managed a 4-2 win over the Pirates, who are coached by former Bobcat equipment assistant Clay White.

The Bobcats will return to Athens from their spring break trip on Saturday and their next competition will be the Marshall Invitational on April 8-9 in Huntington, W.Va.
