CLEVELAND – Ohio University junior Jon Johasky earned his first Golfer-of-the-Week award from the Mid-American Conference on Tuesday following a strong Spring Break performance in North Carolina last week. The Lower Burrell, Pa., native led the Bobcats in a pair of match-play contests against Seton Hall and High Point and also excelled against his teammates in intrasquad competition throughout the week.

“Jon just played really well all week,” said Ohio head coach Bob Cooley. “He played well in both our matches and really stepped forward and played well down south. He shot in the 60s a few times and beat everybody else on the team in our eight qualifying rounds by over 30 shots.”

The Bobcats defeated Seton Hall at the Southern Pines Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C., by a 4-2 score last Sunday and lost on High Point’s home course, the Colonial Country Club in Thomasville, N.C., by a 3.5-2.5 score on Thursday. No individual results were kept in those two match-play events.

Ohio resumes its spring schedule April 8-9 at the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va.
