NYX Hoosier Invitational Information
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Ohio University men’s golf team heads to the first of three April tournaments this weekend, as the Bobcats will compete in the NYX Hoosier Invitational April 6-7 at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament gets underway Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun start format. The Bobcats will play 36 holes on Saturday and wrap up the final day of play with 18 holes on Sunday.
The 2013 tournament field is comprised of 17 teams, including MAC opponents Miami and Toledo. The Bobcats also will do battle with Big Ten programs Indiana and Michigan, as well as in-state foes Wright State, Dayton and Youngstown State.
Measuring 6,813 yards, the Indiana University Golf Course is a par-71 course, designed in 1957 by Jim Soutar.
The Bobcats return to action for the first time since March 10-12, when the team finished 11th out of 16 squads at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.
Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) was Ohio’s top finisher at the event. The senior fired a final round 76 (+5) and finished 12-over par (71-77-76-224) for the tournament to tie for a 16th place finish. It marked Firestone’s second top-20 finish of the season.
Junior Connor Coldwater is coming off his best performance of the season, as the Clarks Summit, Pa., native tied for 36th at the Pinehurst Invitational with a cumulative score of 231 (77-82-72, +19).
