Men's Golf Returns To Action At Hoosier Invite

ATHENS, Ohio –
As the azaleas come into full bloom during Masters week at Augusta, the Ohio University men’s golf team will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to test their own stroke play mettle at the NYX Hoosier Invitational.

The Bobcats will take part in the 54-hole event this weekend at the IU Golf Course. Ohio will play 36 holes Saturday and complete 18 holes on Sunday. The IU Golf Course is a par-71 format and measures 6,813 yards.

Ohio will be joined in the tournament by MAC foes Akron and Toledo, as well as host Indiana, Butler, Evansville, Ilinois State, IPFW, IUPUI, Michigan, Oakland, Western Illinois, Xavier and Youngstown State.

The Ohio quintet of golfers competing in Bloomington includes freshman Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C.), junior Andrew Mlynarski (St. Michaels, Md.), senior Phil Gieseker (Saline, Mich.), freshman Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) and senior Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio).

Last time out, the Green & White placed eighth out of 10 teams at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate March 8-10 in Pinehurst, N.C. The ‘Cats posted a combined score of 937 (317-314-306, +89) at the event.

White and Mlynarski tied for 18th place at Pinehurst with a combined score of 230 (+18). White played well in his home state, with three round scores of 77, 75 and 78 to post his fourth top-20 finish of the season. Mylnarski posited individual rounds of 76, 77 and 77 and his final round included three birdies on his first four holes. The finish marked Mlynarski’s second career top-20.
