Bobcat Golf Teams Ready for Upcoming Tourneys
April 11, 2007 Ohio Golf Weekly Release (.pdf) ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's and women's golf teams will once again battle the elements when they participate in upcoming tournaments at Ohio State and Bowling Green, respectively. Bobcat Men: Kepler Intercollegiate The Ohio men will travel to Columbus for Kepler Intercollegiate this Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, at the Ohio State Golf Club. The 16-team tourney will be played on the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course. Ranked the top collegiate facility in the nation by Golf Digest, the Scarlet Course has hosted 10 men's and five women's national championship events in its history. Ohio will field a line-up of Mark Cimarolli, Ryan Siekmann, Grant Christman, Chad Warmbein and Mark Phillips. James Ellis will compete as an individual. Among the 16 teams in the tournament are all 10 Big Ten members as well as two Big East teams, two from Conference USA and one from the Southeastern Conference. Ohio is the only Mid-American Conference member in the field. Tournament action will begin with two rounds and a shotgun start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round will commence with tee times at 8:30 a.m. Bobcat Women: Falcon Invitational The Ohio women's golf squad will head to Bowling Green for the 11-team Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club next Monday and Tuesday, April 16-17. Stone Ridge will play par-72 and 6,157-yards in the first two rounds, then par-72 and 6,045-yards in the final round. The course features eighteen holes of links-style golf with always great conditions, consistent greens, and a different challenge on every hole. Teams will compete with six golfers, with each team using their top four scores each day. Tournament action will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. An 8 a.m., shotgun start will get the action started both days. |
