Ohio Swings Into Chicago For Kemper Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University men’s golf team makes a trip to the Windy City to take part in the Kemper Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill.

The 54-hole tournament features a 14-team field comprised of Northwestern, Ohio State, Marquette, St. John’s, DePaul, Loyola (Chicago), Chicago State, Bradley, IUPUI, Illinois State, Western Illinois, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Dayton.

The action gets underway at 10 a.m. (EST) Monday, with the Bobcats playing 36 holes on day one. The final 18 holes will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Ohio’s quintet of golfers for the event includes seniors Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) and Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio), junior Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.), sophomore Andrew Mlynarski (St Michaels, Md.) and freshman Brad Burgess (St. Catharines, Ontario).

Designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, the Glen Club measures 7,149 yards and is a par 72. The course features rolling terrain with dramatic elevation changes, meandering lakes and streams, and stunning vistas.

The Glen Club opened in 2001, hosting the Nationwide Tour’s LaSalle Bank/Bank of America Open for seven-straight years as well as the 2005 Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge. It is also is home to Northwestern’s exclusive Luke Donald Outdoor Practice Facility.

The Bobcats are coming off their best performance of the season at the NYX Hoosier Invitational (April 6-7) where Ohio finished fifth out of 18 teams. Ohio posted its best combined 54-hole total since April 2012 with a 27-over par 879 (299-287-293).

Firestone, Lamping and Coldwater all posted identical scores of +6 (219) to lead the Bobcats with a t-20th finish.
