The Ohio golf teams will compete in-state this weekend as the Bobcat men prepare for the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate in Akron and the Ohio women are set for the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus. Both events feature two rounds of play on Saturday with a final round on Sunday.
The Bobcat men will feature junior Jon Johasky (Lower Burrell, Pa.) and sophomores Blake Russell (Dublin), Mark Cimarolli (Pittsburgh), Ryan Siekmann (Dublin) and Grant Christman (Columbus). Cimarolli leads the group with a 73.80 strokes-per-round average so far this year while Russell (74.12), Siekmann (74.12), Johasky (74.43) and Christman (74.50) are all less than a stroke behind.
Head coach Bob Cooley will lead his squad at the par-72, 7,060-yard North Course of the Firestone Country Club against a 15-team field.
In Columbus, the Ohio women will be led by senior Sara Ann Palmer (Dublin) and junior Julie Tomlinson (Noblesville, Ind.). Tomlinson boasts a 77.57 average while Palmer is right behind her with a 77.71 mark.
Also competing for the Bobcats will be sophomores Shanna Siefke (Toledo), Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.) and Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington). Ohio junior Ana Brown (West Chester) and redshirt freshman Katie Stafford (Phoenix) will also compete as individuals but will not be eligible to contribute to the team’s score.
The 15-team women’s tournament is being held on the par-72, 6,201-yard Ohio State University Scarlet Course.
Although neither event will feature live scoring, a link to complete results will be available here at ohiobobcats.com at the conclusion of each day.
