Warmbein Garners MAC Golfer of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND - After leading the Bobcats to a top-five finish and posting the best individual showing of his career at last weekend's Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational, Ohio University junior Chad Warmbein was named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday in an announcement by the league office. Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) an even-par 72, his second-straight round at par or better, on Sunday to propel Ohio to a field-best 292 in the tournament's final round. The performance moved the Bobcats from 10th place at the start of the day into a tie for fourth at the end of the tournament. With rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 to close the weekend, Warmbein finished second in the individual standings with a tally of 218 (+2), marking the best individual placing of his career. The effort was also his first top-five finish as a Bobcat. Warmbein is the second Ohio player to capture MAC Golfer of the Week honors this season, joining classmate Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio), who collected the accolade on Feb. 26. The Bobcats will take part in a final tuneup for the MAC Championships next week when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., for the Fossum Invitational.
