Men's Golf Prepares for MAC Championships

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Men’s Golf travels to Sugar Grove, Illinois this weekend compete in the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships. The tournament will be hosted by Northern Illinois and will be played at the Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course.

The Bobcats are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Ball State Yestingsmeier Invitational on April 21 and 22. Ohio had three golfers finish within the tournament’s top 25, led by Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.). The sophomore shot a 222, tying him for 16th place. Also in the top 25 were Paul Grauer (Dublin, Ohio) and Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio), each tying for 22nd. 

Last year, the Bobcats finished ninth at the MAC Championships, a tournament which was won by Kent State. The Bobcats were led by Bradley Lucas, who finished tied for 11th. He was just one stroke shy of a top-10 finish.

Rich Harvest Farms was named the 58th best golf course in America by Golf Digest. The competition is a 72-hole tournament that will take place over the course of three days, starting Friday, May 4.

Ohio golfers will tee off between 8:48 a.m. and 9:36 a.m. on Friday morning. The Bobcats will be paired up with golfers from Toledo and Bowling Green.
