Ohio in Fourth Heading into Saturday’s Final Round

    WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio men’s golf team shot a 294 on Friday in the third round of the Mid-American Conference Championships at the Medallion Golf Club. The Bobcats are 27 strokes behind leader Kent State but just one shot off third-place Ball State heading into Saturday’s final 18 holes.

    Ohio sophomore Ryan Siekmann (Dublin) is tied for seventh with a 54-hole score of 214 (73-67-74) while sophomore Blake Russell (Dublin) is tied for 13th at 216 (74-70-72) and junior Brian Elsea (Columbus) is tied for 16th with a 217 (73-68-76). Bobcat sophomore Mark Cimarolli (Pittsburgh) and junior Jon Johasky (Lower Burrell, Pa.) are both tied for 34th at 223.

    Kent State’s Ryan Yip leads the tournament with a 206 (63-72-71) and his teammate Marc Bourgeois is second at 207 (66-71-70) as the Golden Flashes hold a commanding lead with a team score of 838. Eastern Michigan is in second place at 852, followed by the Cardinals (864) and Ohio (865). Toledo (867), Akron (870), Northern Illinois (870), Bowling Green (879), Miami (880) and Marshall (882) round out the 10-team event.

    Saturday’s final round will begin at 8 a.m.
