Lamping graduated this spring with a 3.750 cumulative GPA

ATHENS, Ohio – For his superb efforts on the course and in the classroom, senior men’s golfer Michael Lamping earned MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of April 29-May 5.
Lamping had a strong weekend for the men’s golf team, earning the program’s best finish at the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, May 3-5.
The senior tied for 19th place in the field of 45 golfers, shooting a four-round score of 305 to lead Ohio to an eighth-place finish at the tournament. Lamping shot his best round on Friday afternoon, with an even-par 72 to close out the first day of competition.
During the round, Lamping recorded three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 10th hole. He played the par 5s at -4 over the first two rounds, ranking second among the field of 45 golfers.
The Dublin, Ohio native graduated from Ohio University this spring with a degree in coaching education. He put together an impressive 3.750 cumulative GPA during his four years in Athens.
