ATHENS, Ohio - Paul Grauer of Ohio Men's Golf was named to the 2012 Academic All-MAC team, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday.
Grauer (Dublin, Ohio) was honored for his stellar academic record as well as his impressive season on the golf course. He played five events and 15 rounds during the 2012 spring season, averaging 74.9 strokes per 18 holes. He began the season with an 18th-place finish (in a field of 90) at the Wexford Plantation Inn Invitational in February and has proved to be a consistent golfer throughout the season, finishing in the top 25 in three of the last four events. His best finish of the season came in the OSU Kepler Invitational where he had a three-round score of 221 (+8) and finished tied for second in a field of 81. Grauer's best round of the season was a 67 at the NYX Hoosier Invitational.
In addition to Grauer's award, Ohio juniors Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) and Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) were awarded Academic All-MAC Honorable Mentions.
Lamping played four events and 12 rounds during the 2012 spring season, averaging 76.3 strokes per 18 holes. He had his best two rounds in that event, shooting a 71 in both the second and third rounds.
Lucas averaged a score of 78.7 per 18 holes in the five tournaments and 15 rounds he played during the 2012 season. The junior shot his best score of the season at the NYX Hoosier Invitational, going three over par to earn a tie for 30th, which was also his best finish of the season.
