2012 Fall Schedule
ATHENS, Ohio - Fresh off a third-place finish at the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships, Ohio Men's Golf announced its fall 2012 schedule on Thursday. The Bobcats will participate in four tournaments and one exhibition during the fall season.
Two of these tournaments will take place in the state of Ohio while the other two will be in the neighboring states of West Virginia and Indiana. The lone exhibition contest of the season--The Bobcat Open--will be played in Worthington, Ohio.
Ohio will begin the season on Monday, Sept. 10 at the Marshall Invitational. The competition will last two days and will be played at the Guyan Country Club in Huntington, W.Va. The Green and White competed at this 54-hole tournament last fall, placing 15th.
The Bobcat Open exhibition on Oct. 1 kicks off a busy month and is followed one week later by the 2012 Firestone Invitational in Akron. The Firestone North Course will host this 54-hole tournament, which will serve as a homecoming of sorts for rising senior Byron Firestone, a native of the nearby Canton area.
Head Coach Bob Cooley's squad will end the fall season with tournaments at Ball State (Oct. 15-16) and Dayton (Oct. 22-23). The Bobcats played very well at the Dayton Fall Invitational during the 2011-12 season, finishing in third place and only five strokes removed from tying for top honors.
