2013-14 Men's Golf Schedule
ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University men's golf head coach Bob Cooley announced the team's 2013-14 schedule Tuesday.
The ledger, which begins in September and ends in early May, includes nine stroke play tournaments (four fall, five spring) and a trio of match play events.
For the second-straight campaign, the Bobcats begin the season in nearby Huntington, W. Va., to take part in the Marshall Invitational at Guyan Country Club (Sept. 9-10).
The Bobcats then make the trip west to participate in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Sept. 21-22, in Zionsville, Ind. The event is hosted by Indiana University.
From there, Ohio will host its annual fundraiser in Worthington, Ohio. The Bobcat Open is scheduled for Sept. 30 at The Lakes Country Club.
Ohio wraps up the 2013 fall schedule with a pair of 54-hole October tournaments. After heading north to participate in Akron's Firestone Invitational (Oct. 7-8), the Bobcats close autumn action with a trip to Fort Myers, Fla., to participate in the Cobra Puma Invitational Oct. 27-28 (Miromar Lakes Country Club).
The spring season kicks off with a match play event against MAC foe Bowling Green on Feb. 8 in Orlando, Fla. The two teams with battle at the legendary Bay Hill Country Club, which will host the PGA Tour's Arnold Palmer Invitational the following month. The `Cats wrap up the Sunshine State trek with the annual Mid-American Match Play Feb. 10-11 at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Ohio begins a week of play in Hilton Head, S.C., with a matchup against BIG EAST foe DePaul on Feb. 15. The `Cats defeated the Blue Demons, 4-1, in match play action last season.
The Green and White remain in Hilton Head to participate in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate (Feb. 17-18) for the sixth-straight season.
For the second time in as many months, the Bobcats will play at the site of a 2014 PGA Tour event in March. The `Cats hit famed Pinehurst, N.C., to take part in the Pinehurst Invitational just three months before the 2014 U.S. Open descends upon Pinehurst No. 2 in June.
The Bobcats begin April with a trip to the NYX Hoosier Invitational (Apr. 12-13) in Bloomington, Ind., before completing the regular season with a berth in the Ball State Invitational Apr. 21-22 at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.
Ohio's 2013-14 season culminates with the annual MAC Championships May 1-3 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. After hosting the event in 2013, the Bobcats will pass the torch to Toledo in 2014.
