2012 Marshall Invitational
ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Men’s Golf kicks off its 2012-13 season on Monday morning, playing at the 43rd annual Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va. The two-day tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Guyan Golf and Country Club will be the home of the tournament. The course, which plays a par of 71, has tree-lined fairways built on rolling terrain in the east section of Huntington. Golfers will begin with a shotgun start on Monday morning and will play two rounds of golf on the first day. Tuesday’s final round will begin at 8 a.m.
A total of 16 teams will be participating at the tournament. Ohio will match up with golfers from Mid-American Conference foes Bowling Green, Miami and Toledo. Also represented at the tournament will be Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Ohio State, Richmond, Virginia Tech, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, Wright State and Xavier.
Ohio placed 15th at the Marshall Invitational during the 2011-12 season, ending the competition with a 44-over par score of 896. The Bobcats ended the 2011-12 season with a third-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships, their best result at the tournament since 2004.
