ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Men's Golf prepares to begin its second tournament action of the 2012-13 season. The Bobcats will compete at the FirstEnergy Solutions Firestone Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Akron.
Firestone Country Club's North Course--the home course of the Akron Zips--will serve as the site of this tournament. The par-72, 7,125-yard course will host Ohio and 16 other schools during the course of the next two days. In addition to Mid-American Conference foes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Miami, the tournament field includes Davidson, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, Samford, St. Mary's, USC-Aiken and Wisconsin.
Tee times will begin Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. via a shotgun start. Two rounds will be played on the first day of competition while the third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
In Ohio's last tournament action, the Bobcats placed 15th at the Marshall Invitational. Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) led the way for the Green and White, shooting 71-74-72 to end with a score of 217. The senior tied for 23rd in the field of 87 golfers.
