Ohio Men's Golf Heads to Florida
Oct. 26, 2007 Weekly Release (.pdf) ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's golf squad will travel to the Sunshine State to participate in the third annual Big East/MAC Challenge this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28. This year's event will take place at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando. Grand Cypress, designed by Jack Nicklaus, has won the Gold Medal Award from Golf Magazine nine times. As in the two previous years, Marquette will serve as host for the event. Ohio is one of just three MAC teams that will compete in the event along with Akron and Bowling Green. Eight Big East teams will participate. Ohio Director of Golf Bob Cooley will take Mark Phillips, Tim Gusweiler, Stewart Jamieson, James Ellis and Chad Warmbein on the trip. One of those six will compete as an individual. The Bobcats finished eighth out of 12 teams in last year's Big East/MAC Challenge. Ellis and Warmbein competed last year in the tourney at Orange County National and finished 10- and 12-over, respectively. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. The action will commence both days at 8 a.m. |
