ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Men’s Golf Program released its 2013 spring schedule on Tuesday afternoon. Highlighting this schedule is the Mid-American Conference Championship Tournament from May 3-5, which Ohio will be hosting at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
Ohio’s spring schedule features three head-to-head competitions to begin the season and quickly transitions into tournament play, as the final six events on the calendar are tournaments. The Bobcats will begin the 2013 spring season with head-to-head contests against Bowling Green (Feb. 9) and DePaul (Feb. 16). In between these two events, Ohio will compete at a Mid-American Conference match play event on Feb. 11-12. All of these competitions will take place at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
The Bobcats begin spring tournament play on Feb. 18 when they compete at the 2013 Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. The Green and White will then take nearly a month away from NCAA competition before resuming play at the Pinehurst Invitational on Mar. 10-12.
April will prove to be a busy month for Head Coach Bob Cooley’s team, as the Bobcats will compete in three tournaments during the fourth month of 2013. Ohio will play at the two-day NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., beginning April 6. The ‘Cats will then travel further west to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Northwestern Invitational beginning April 15. Ohio wraps up the month of April in University Park, Pa., playing in the Penn State Rutherford Tournament on April 20 and 21.
The Bobcats will conclude the 2013 spring season by hosting the Mid-American Conference Championships on May 3-5. This year’s tournament will take place at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The Bobcats placed third at the 2012 MAC Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill. This was the best MAC finish achieved by the Bobcats since the 2004 season.
