In August of 2005, Kyle Hansen joined the Ohio wrestling program as its assistant coach.
Hansen spent the previous three years as the University of Northern Iowa wrestling program's conditioning specialist. He also added the role of Panther Club wrestling coach his final season there.
A two-time All-American and three-time Academic All-American, Hansen finished his collegiate career at Northern Iowa with 80 career wins, including 39 dual meet victories. He was ranked as high as fifth in the nation at 184 pounds as a senior for the Panthers in 2001-02.
A native of Wilton, Iowa, Hansen graduated from Northern Iowa in 2002 with a degree in construction management and received his master's degree from Ohio in coaching education in 2008.
He is married to Carolyn (Valade), a past soccer standout for Ohio University. They have a son, Benjamin.
