CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Ohio University Wrestling team placed 10th, finishing with 57 points at the 2012 Southern Scuffle. The tournament was held on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga inside McKenzie Arena.

Redshirt freshman Harrison Hightower, (Strongsville, Ohio), senior Nick Purdue (Genoa, Ohio), sophomore Ryan Garringer (Downers Grove, Ill.), senior Andy Hartshorn (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and sophomore Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) all competed in day two competition at the 157, 174, 184, 285 and 285 pound weight classes, respectively.

Johnson and Hartshorn highlighted day two competition for the Cats as both wrestlers won a pair of matches and would eventually face off in the fifth-place bout where Johnson would win via forfeit. Hartshorn would take sixth in the 285 pound weight class.

Garringer (Downers Grove, Ill.) opened competition in his weight class with a 12-0 major decision setback to Minnesota's Kevin Steinhaus. Following the tournament, Garringer received the Gregorian Award which is given to the individual with the most falls in the least time.

Hightower dropped his lone bout of the day, while Purdue suffered a pair of forfeits.

Ohio returns to action on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. as it welcomes Northern Illinois to the Convocation Center for its Mid-American Conference opener.
